Notwithstanding all the persecution of the saints, living witnesses for God's truth were raised up on every hand. Angels of the Lord were doing the work committed to their trust. They were searching in the darkest places and selecting out of the darkness men who were honest in heart. These were all buried up in error, yet God called them, as He did Saul, to be chosen vessels to bear His truth and raise their voices against the sins of His professed people. Angels of God moved upon the hearts of Martin Luther, Melanchthon, and others in different places, and caused them to thirst for the living testimony of the Word of God. The enemy had come in like a flood, and the standard must be raised against him. Luther was the one chosen to breast the storm, stand up against the ire of a fallen church, and strengthen the few who were faithful to their holy profession. He was ever fearful of offending God. He tried through works to obtain His favor, but was not satisfied until a gleam of light from heaven drove the darkness from his mind and led him to trust, not in works, but in the merits of the blood of Christ. He could then come to God for himself, not through popes or confessors, but through Jesus Christ alone. {Early Writings, page 222}

Daily Verse for July 29:

For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. (Hebrews 10:26-27)

LATEST NEWS AND COMMENT ITEM:

(popup required): World Net Daily, June 3, 2010 - Author: European Antichrist looking more and more unlikely

Joel Richardson, author of a best-selling book on Bible prophecy, says atheists will have a field day mocking Christians for the incorrect interpretations about the last days. "Nearly twenty years ago, I intently watched as a very popular Christian television prophecy teacher declared, 'the present formation of the European Union is literally the fulfillment of Bible prophecy right before our eyes!'" he writes in a commentary today in WND. "According to this teacher, the creation of the European Union represented a biblically prophesied revived Roman Empire. Because the last-days empire of the Antichrist as described in the Books of Daniel and Revelation is portrayed as a 10-nation alliance, this teacher confidently declared that when the number of EU member states reached ten, this would signal the imminent return of Jesus Christ. And soon, the number of EU member states reached the magic number 10 just as this teacher had predicted. Then the number reached eleven, and then twelve. Soon there were twenty. Today there are 27 member states. The teacher's very confident predictions failed." His book makes the case that the biblical Antichrist is one and the same as the Quran's Muslim Mahdi.

TSTL: Again, the vast majority of Christians debate and strike out against our statement of reading Daniel 2:41. None should be disillusioned! "And whereas thou sawest the feet and toes, part of potters' clay, and part of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; but there shall be in it of the strength of the iron, forasmuch as thou sawest the iron mixed with miry clay." There is to be no unification of the European countries. Period. How many times must we debunk popular Christianity on this? Daniel saw it so plainly that there will be attempt after attempt to unify but "they shall not cleave one to another" (Daniel 2:43). That little unification verse in Revelation cannot contradict these verses therefore the popular understanding of Revelation 17:13 as a unified state is wrong. Much study would be necessary to properly understand this one, but for now, we declare another popular misgiving in prophecy. Everyone is looking for a military antichrist. Look up antichrist in the Bible with all 4 being in the epistles of John. All deal with doctrines. While many fight off atheism, evolution, and militant Muslims, antichrist is sneaking false doctrines and conquering the world, just as predicted.
