Trust in the LORD, and do good; [so] shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. (Psalms 37:3)
Here is an update to the recent employment situation.
While browsing a freelance website, I was able to make some contacts for some small projects. We are still in the "discussion" phase, but at least there are leads.
But the really good news is that I received a phone call from an interview that I had last week. Despite being in the tough position of being the first candidate to be interviewed and then they failing to contact me at the end of the week as they strongly implied, I was offered the position today and I accepted it.
It is back to teaching, which I love. What is nice about this is that I also get to work with those of the inner city - the neglected field. I was able to do that for two years while at a prior teaching position. But when a great financial opportunity presented itself, I took it, not knowing that the Sabbath light needed to be brought to that environment. It was and my job was done.
As a secondary blessing to the job I just lost, we made enough income to greatly pay down the ministry debt, so much so that we are almost close enough to manage on the reduced income for all of our personal needs and regular payments on the remaining debt. We did not realize the blessing of being able to seek employment at a lower income level until this week when we looked at our current financial records. There is not much out there anymore for the income I was making.
Not only am I employed again, but a blessing also happened. On the application it asked for desired salary. Rather than put down the going salary for that position, I put down the salary, which I needed in order to meet the bare necessities. It was $5,000 greater than the going rate. Both Carol and I figured that if I were not hired it would be for that reason. But God is greater. I received what I asked for!
However, this salary does not cover the $961 a month necessary to keep the paper version of the newsletter printing. With the lease up on the printing equipment we hesitate to renew the lease without a consistent source of income to cover it. This year to date, the monthly donations to this ministry, fall far short of this need. We trust that God who delivered so far will open a way if He wants it to continue.
The nearly 1,000 general public newsletter readers hardly have Internet savvy people. And the 1,000 ministers that we mail to are not so quick to share their e-mail addresses with us. And most parents do not allow children to have their own e-mail accounts (rightly so). So please continue to pray for the connections we have made over these ten years that they not be lost. And we have received replies from people that hope and pray we can continue with the paper newsletters even though financially they cannot contribute. Some of these people have only the newsletter as their connection with any formal religion.
